Ricoh Offers @Remote – Intelligent Remote Monitoring & Management Service for Optimised Device Usage

Amstelveen, The Netherlands, October 2006 – Today Ricoh Europe B.V. introduces “@Remote.” This new, Internet-based, support-service offers remote monitoring and management of network connected output devices, including non-Ricoh devices. Actual usage and efficiency of devices can be read from detailed reports available 24/7 via a secure @Remote web portal. Designed to increase the return on investment, @Remote helps users conduct a more efficient device policy and reduce operational costs.

Operational data such as number of copies, prints, faxes and scans, colour usage, page sizes, supply status and finishing modes are collected from all networked peripherals. This data is automatically and securely sent to Ricoh’s data centre and then used to create detailed usage reports. These can be accessed through a secure @Remote web portal. Available 24x7, this portal offers users accurate fleet knowledge whenever needed. These reports provide businesses with the information to better manage their device fleet while enabling a reduction in overall operation costs.

Besides having detailed reporting capabilities, @Remote features automatic meter readings, auto supply replenishment, service call notifications and firmware upgrades. These intelligent capabilities are all geared towards improving the management of devices and minimising user intervention.

Understanding the importance and growing concerns regarding network and information protection, Ricoh has designed @Remote to deliver information on a secure communication path.  Any external point of entry to the user’s network is eliminated. @Remote has also obtained ISO15408 Information Technology Security certification. This internationally recognised set of standards defines security requirements and establishes procedures for evaluating the security of IT systems and software.

“With its ready to use service, @Remote is the ultimate solution for organisations looking to better manage their output devices and keep budgets under control. Combined with its security features, @Remote provides a secure and automated way for customers to enjoy all the benefits of effective device management,” says Maggy Thorvardardottir, Senior Service Business Analyst at Ricoh Europe B.V.

@Remote is the latest addition to Ricoh’s line up of remote management solutions designed to help customers improve work processes, enhance efficiency and ultimately improve profitability.
